So much has happened, the Holidays and now a new year. I have been a busy lady. I wanted to start in a new direction. I have, in the last few months have totally found a new and creative hobby. I am obsessed with Blythe customizing!!! My daughter and I have fallen in love with these dolls which I have posted on in a few of my entries. I now want to go in that direction and start posting tutorials and links to other customizers and tutorials. My little one opened up an etsy shop called KK In Lala Land, of Kawaii Hair Treats and Jewelry and we will soon both be sewing soon. Our resolution for the year is to learn to use a sewing machine! We have been welcomed so lovingly into this uniquely cool, creative and artistic comunity. I can not wait to share our creative endevors here, slowly but surely I will start posting some backed up photos and events we have attended and some custom dolls we have created. Let the new year of creativity and fun begin!!!

This weekend brought the debut of the Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix of New Delhi, India. Lewis Hamilton unveiled an awesome modified helmet design, which features a picture of legendary Jamaica reggae superstar Bob Marley on the top section with the words – One Love. Qualifying ended this weekend with this lineup: Drivers - 1 - Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull), 2 - Lewis Hamilton (McLaren), 3 - Mark Webber (Red Bull). Lewis stated at the post qualifiying interview that he was surprised to split the Red Bull drivers Vettel and Weber. Lewis is keeping positive stating, even with penalties he is optimistic! Halloween is on of my family's favorite Holidays. It gives us all a chance to have some fun, use our imaginations and get creative together. This year we are all honoring Dia de los Muertos, The Day of the Dead. I did a work up on my little one to get in some practice and came up with this striking, haunting, colorful yet pretty Sugar Skull. She loved it and can not wait to get up and out in full Muerte Nina garb. An easy way to get a lot of impact using make-up from my make-up case and some white grease paint from my local Halloween store with some silk roses from Michaels the look came easy and at a low cost. I will update once I do myself and maybe a quick vid to show how I created this look.

I see yet another website crashing designer collaboration in Target's future! Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Mini line will debut at Target on November 13, and if the initial photos are any indication, this latest collaboration is worth lining up for at Target.

“Harajuku Mini is a dream come true,” Gwen told WWD. ”I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the super cute and playful kids' clothing you find in Japan."
The line will include ballet flats, hoodies, graphic tees, and tutus. With amazing price points, starting at just $3.99 and nothing will cost more than $30.00. Sizes will range from 6 months to 16Y. There is more great news...a second wave of the line will be released for the new year in January 2012.

I do not often buy clothing for myself from Target's design collaborations, but I LOVE their design collaboration kids' clothing. My daughter has several pieces from both Liberty of London for Target and Calypso St. Barth for Target. They've held up really well after repeated washings so we are both looking forward to see what Gwen's line has to offer.

As previously mentioned, I have a new obsession. My daughter and I have joined the special and unique world of Blythe. Not only have we gotten a few girls but I took on a customization project of creating a Brown Blythe, since the company does not manufacture a Blythe of color. With the help and inspiration of some extraordinary customizers and some courage and patience, I took the leap into customization. The process only took one weekend but the research and planning took months. I am so happy with how she came out and thank you so much to my "Brown Blythe Mentor" Zenzile Green for creating the Blurb book "Little Brown Blythe" which gave me the courage to go for it! I look forward to creating even more customization's and perfecting my method. I am so honored that Zenzile even included my new customized Blythe, named Evangeline on her Born to Blythe Blog! It is so addictive and I am so happy to have a new creative hobby!

My daughter and I have some new editions. Our Bubblegum (Simply Guava) and Lola Bella (Simply Mango) Blythe's arrived from Hong Kong yesterday! Weeks earlier than expected, my husband answered the door and received our special package. He had a hard time trying to keep it away from Kaylie! We took extra care in opening them and once in we spent the rest of the evening playing with them. Needless to say we can not wait to get to customizing and gathering up clothes and shoes. We have been graciously accepted into the "Blythe Community"who are so helpful and we look forward to meets and Blythecon. Recently my neighbor graciously gave me an entire bag of tomatoes from her backyard garden (Thank you Amy!). I sat on those tomatoes for days without a thought, and then one morning I turned on the tele and there was the Barefoot Contessa herself Ina Garten making Roasted Tomatoes with Pesto.

So first off just to let you know, I am a pesto addict, second of all I am not one to let food go to waste. So I decided to get up right then and there and create this seemingly simple yet tasty dish. Luckily I had all the needed simple ingredients already in my kitchen. Tomatoes, pesto, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, oregano, salt and pepper and in my case I added bacon, because we all know everything tastes better with bacon! I even added some to a hamburger and it is a winner! Try these quick and simple bites at your next get together or add them to a burger to make it extra tasty, I assure you, you will not be disappointed!

Yes I am a Grown woman and yes I do still play with dolls. How could you not play with dolls when they look like this? Blythe has been around since 1972 but were only produced for one year, they were resurrected by the Japanese market in 2000. My daughter has over a dozen of the Petite Blythe dolls but it is time to get some of the full sized 12 inch Takara Blythes and new Petites that can be customized.' I am in love with customized black Blythes'. The customizers are truly talented artist, their work gives me inspiration to create my own custom brown Blythe.

My 10 year old daughter and are starting a collection as soon as we find ones we love for the right price. There is a large Blythe collector and customizing community, I have been reaching out to them for assistance. I will also try my hand at customizing one into a beautiful brown Blythe.....Wish me luck! If I chicken out I can always have one customized by a professional. I love this idea so much, Book Shelves made of books! It can be a great DIY project or you can buy the bracket here to create unique shelving in your home or office. The idea of recycling books and giving them new life excites me. The creativity is endless, medical books for a docotrs office, childrens books for the nursery, photography books for the photo geek, choose color or themed groupings. Brilliant idea, I am going to start gathering up books and get the project started for my new home office!

Find some cloth or leather-bound books with beautiful spines that will work well together as a grouping.

Buy two sets of brackets, using one set for below the books and a single bracket for above. Measure the thickness of each book and start drilling.

21 Nites Is Not Enough...PRINCE is Amazing!

Prince's Welcome 2 America 21 Nite Stand in Los Angeles will come to an end mid-May 2011. If you have not gotten your tickets run and get them. This is a concert you should not miss. I was blessed enough to go twice (and a 3rd time coming up this week). This man is a legend and a musical genius, to witness this amazing show is a once in a lifetime experience. Do not let this concert pass you by!

The Saturday, April 30th show brought out a totally different set than last Saturday's show. He started out the night by stating "I've got too many hits, it's going to be a long night!" He was telling the truth. Gwen Stefani was a special guest and performed "So Far, So Pleased"with Prince, she was so excited to be on stage with him, she acted like a little school girl, so gitty and excited. There were also performances with Nikka Costa and the fabulous Shiela E.

The concert seemed to go on and on with several encores even after the lights were up and the stage and lighting hands were leaving. So many concert goers who left after the 2nd and 3rd encores missed out on two more encores, he did "Darling Nikki in the 4th!!!!! The last encore bringing The Times, "The Bird" and "Jungle Love"! Prince was still on stage performing at midnight! This concert was over 3 hours long and I still did not want it to end. The crowd was still chanting his name after the 5th encore! Met 2011 Spring Gala

NYC was the place to party and be seen last night at the annual Metropolitan Museum of Arts Gala. The gala was in celebration of the works of the late Alexander McQueen, titled Savage Beauty. The exhibition demonstrated how extraordinary and beautiful McQueen's pieces are and how great of a loss McQueen is to the fashion industry. Models and celebrities were in full force fashion as they walked the red carpet. Guests danced the night away to the music of the talented Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae. Above are a few of my personal favorite looks from the night, unexpectedly actress Christina Ricci was a show stopper in Zac Posen, who was also her escort for the evening. Prince Delivered the Saturday Night Special

It was Saturday night I guess that makes it all right, she said what have I got to lose! Prince Purrrrred Little Red Corvette and ALL of his hits at the Los Angeles Forum for his Welcome 2 America Tour on Saturday night. He was amazing, a true talent and showman, he knows how to make a connection with the audience. Prince put on a show that lasted several hours and had 4 encores! Up close and personal, the venue was set up to have a great view of his "Sign" shaped stage from any vantage point.

With tickets starting at just $25.00 he offers a show that is accessible to all and truly unforgettable! The Forum was full of celebs on Saturday night from Matt Damon to Rosario Dawson, and as an homage to Michael Jackson, New Power Generation played Billie Jean while Prince danced with Rebbi Jackson. Prince just knows how to do it. Chaka Khan opened as a special surprise guest and she can still blow it out of the park, a remarkable woman. It was a great night and I can not wait to see him again, it was life changing, Prince told us he was giving us the "Saturday Night Special".....and he truly delivered!!!!

She came on 1 1/2 late and made it through a medley of hits and no costume changes, just a white tank and grey jeans with combat boots. She sang well and hit all of my favorite choreography. Didn't mind waiting for Janet to start becuase I was spotting all of the celebs sitting around me (front row), from Kobe Bryant, Damon & Sean Wayans to Eric Estrada and even MJ's kids. It was a fun evening up close and personal with Janet!

The 2011 Formula 1 season has begun, the Australian Grand Prix started off the season with an interesting race. Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel opened his title defence with a victory, Vettel tore away from the field in the opening stages, leading by three seconds after just two laps, with McLaren's Hamilton holding second.

Hamilton held on to 2nd position at the start and held it all the way through even with an ‘off’ that damaged the floor of his car later in the race to score the 37th podium of his career in his 72nd race. Hamilton said: “The whole team should be proud of this result. The car felt fantastic and I think we can challenge to win the next race.”

Renault's Vitaly Petrov, who made the most of an excellent start and a fine race drive thereafter to take his maiden podium in third. Looking forward to an exciting and surprising F1 season! Keep it up boys!!!

Here are some classic and fresh new looks in footwear. I really like the Oxford for girls trend going on right now. Oxfords look super cute paired with everything from floral dresses to shorts. Marc Jacobs has a line of shoes for youth called Little Marc. I like the little Emo girl character he has created and put on a ballet flat, very different. J.Crew always has a great line of shoes for kids, the stripped grosgrain with a splash of pink is a great choice. And last but not least for your little girl, a classic pair of Converse All Stars in crisp white.

For the boys I like the new line of Tom's for kids line, his shoes are simple, comfy & stylish with a cause, I like the Faces of Youth print. Grey sued Chukkas by Vans are always a good pick to go with anything and for every occasion. J. Crew's Mac Allister Boots are so handsome and sturdy and would be a great addition to your little mans closet. Of course I also have to end with another Converse classic, the Jack Purcell High Tops, also in crisp white! All these picks will have your little one putting their best foot forward!!!!

Day Tripping

Had the opportunity recently to chaperon a field trip to the Mission San Juan Capistrano, in San Juan Capistrano, California. I would have never gone there if not for the field trip and I would have really missed out. No need to be Catholic or religious to appreciate the beauty of this mission, it is absolutely beautiful. The mission has daily guided tours with a Dosen or you can walk freely using information wands. I recommend a visit with your family and bring a picnic basket and lunch on the lawn next to the large Koi pond & fountain. And the swallows have returned recently! Time for a DIY Project

I am loving the blinged out cake toppers but they are so expensive. I created my own with a sheet of card stock and plastic crystals. Here is how I did it:

Print out a copy of the inspiration topper in the size needed for cake. (I used a 4x7 sized picture)
Cut out the number from the printed picture.
Trace the numbers on the back side of card stock & cut them out.
Get out your trusty glue gun and a pair of tweezers and glue down the crystals in the desired design. ( I followed the inspiriation pic)
Glue two toothpicks to the back of the numbers (if you want double sided numbers then cut out and glue it to the back side after this step)
Lastly I added a tulle bow with a heart crystal and hot glued it to the bottom.

This project is a quick, easy & cost efficient way to top a cake or cupcake. It is so easy that my 10 year old did it herself. Try it for your next party with letters or number and themes. The ideas are endless!!!!

Yet the seaside principality always makes for an exciting venue. Mark Webber won the Monaco Grand Prix from the pole Sunday to lead a Red Bull 1-2 finish at the famous street race. The victory propels Mark Webber into the lead for the drivers' championship. Tied with 78 points but bumped from the lead on account of race wins, Sebastian Vettel holds second place. Alonso is just behind in third in 73, closely followed by Button's 70 points. Massa follows in fifth place with 61 points, Kubica and Hamilton in sixth and seventh with 59 apiece. Rosberg is eighth with 54, Schumacher ninth with 30 and Sutil tenth with 18 points. With both its drivers topping the standings, Red Bull Racing leads the constructors' championship with 156 points, ahead of Ferrari's 134, McLaren's 129 and Mercedes' 84. The season picks up in two weeks' time for the Turkish Grand Prix on May 30 from Istanbul, one of the newest tracks on the calendar following one of the oldest.
